CIVITELLA DI ROMAGNA

CIVITELLA DI ROMAGNA HISTORY
Civitella di Romagna is the municipality which there are over 28 ruins of fortresses and castles. This depended on the widespread flourish, to the VIII-IX century, of “castra” (fortified castles surrounded by walls) throughout the Apennine hills. The municipality of Civitella di Romagna includes today the two most important towns on the way Bidentina (ancient Romipeta dei Pelligrini): Civitella (Civitatula) and Cusercoli (Castrum Clusercoli).
