CIVITELLA DI ROMAGNA
HISTORY
Civitella di Romagna is the municipality which there are over 28 ruins of fortresses and castles. This depended on the widespread flourish, to the VIII-IX century, of
“castra” (fortified castles surrounded by walls) throughout the Apennine hills. The municipality of
Civitella di Romagna includes today the two most important towns on the way Bidentina (
ancient Romipeta dei Pelligrini):
Civitella (
Civitatula) and
Cusercoli (
Castrum Clusercoli).

• In mountain bike from Civitella di Romagna, ascension of the torrent valley Suasia, up to the abandoned village of Buggiana and Mount Aiola; climb to the ancient towns of Seat and Montevecchio; by Cusercoli ascension to the Path of the Alpine, on the ridge between Val Rabbi and Val Bidente
• Canoeing or kayaking on the river Bidente Cusercoli, in a beautiful natural environment
• Fishing in the pond near Seggio
