ELIOPOLI, a great Historical Re-enactment with historical groups from eight nations that will plunge you in the citadel of Terra del Sole between military festivals, ancient crafts and common people.
Terra del Sole, founded by Grand Duke Cosimo I de 'Medici, is now one of the best preserved examples of ideal-city and was formed while defence fortress for the city of Florence by the new armies of the time, when the guns and mortars had the control of battlefields.
For three days it will be possible to live among the shots of the muskets and artillery, the smoke of campfires, ancient music and dancing in the inn and the tavern in the castle.
Friday night the event will start with the Military Review in Piazza d'Armi and continue until Sunday evening as a three-day of unabated reenacting.
Saturday and Sunday afternoons the great battle under the walls of St. Andrew Bastion, to show how the armies fought in the early seventeenth century.
