ZANETTI PROTONOTARI CAMPI - Colmano di Predappio
The winery is currently located in Villa dei Raggi, in Colmano of Predappio. Colmano is the ancient "collis amenus", mentioned in the medieval chronicles as the castle of the Bishop of Forlì; The villa is located in the middle of an oak forest on the first hills that, leaving from the plain of Forli, climb towards the Apennines foothills, in the valley of the river Montone. We have not precise information about the date of its construction. It seems it was built in 1700 on a more ancient building, of which we have traces in the winery: possibly a fortified work or the same castle of Colmano. In 1800 the building belonged to the Count Giuseppe Campi, a man of wide culture and many scientific interests. He was an active member of the Georgofili Academy in Florence, where he had held interesting agrarian relations, he was also a keen physics student, by having invented an astronomical clock, made by Galileo workshops of Florence. From 1861 to 1865 he had also taken part in public life, as first Prefect of the town of Forlì. Landowner, he deepened and improved viticulture and silkworm-breeding, by founded both a modern winery and a silk mill in Dovadola. In 1889, during the Paris Universal Exhibition, that of the Torre Eiffel’s inauguration, he sent its products and its wine awarded a prize. The winery, located in the wood below the villa, is particularly fresh and suitable for the wines preservation. All the grapes come from the farm’s vineyards.
