SNAILS The meat of snails is very high in protein ( 13.4 % ) , have a low-fat ( 1.7 % ) and contains a rich variety of minerals ( calcium and iron ) . The amino acids that form the basis of the flesh are present on a large scale and contribute to proper and healthy eating. This food can be compared to a plate diet , is light and easy to digest . A dozen snails provide only 80 calories . Because of these properties snails are indicated in cases of dysfunction such as blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
